The O. Temple Sloan Jr. Founder's Scholarship Program was established in honor of the Founder and Chairman of General Parts International, Inc., now incorporated into Advance Auto Parts. The program is funded by the Advance Auto Parts Foundation. This scholarship provides an opportunity for dependent children (biological, legally adopted, step-child, or grandchild) of full-time or part-time employees of Advance Auto Parts or an Advance Auto Parts subsidiary in a position lower than the vice president level to receive financial awards for full-time study at an accredited post-secondary institution of their choice. The O. Temple Sloan, Jr. Founder’s Scholarship Program is administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE).
Following the selection process, the following scholarships will be awarded:
If a recipient is awarded a non-renewable scholarship, the recipient may reapply for another scholarship in the following year as a new applicant. Recipients can win a scholarship up to two times.
Applicants who were not awarded a scholarship are also encouraged to reapply in the following year.
Step One — Determine Your Eligibility

If you answered YES for each of the statements above, you are eligible to apply to the O. Temple Sloan, Jr. Founder’s Scholarship Program.
If you answered NO for one or more of the statements above, you are not eligible to apply.
Step Two — If Eligible, complete the Scholarship Application by March 2, 2026
Beginning in December, the application is available online at: https://apply.iie.org/ots
All applicants with be notified via email no later than April 15 regarding the status of their application.
The selection process is based on a comprehensive review of the applicant’s:
(1) Financial need
(2) Personal achievements
(3) Personal experiences/personal statement
(4) Academic achievement
(5) Study goals
(6) Career goals
(7) Recommendation letter (suggested, but not required)
To see if your school is accredited, check the U.S. Department of Education’s Database of Accredited Post-Secondary Institutions and Programs (DAPIP). If your school is located outside of the United States, please check with a school official to see if your program is accredited in your country.
The number of awards will be determined once all the applications have been received. Internal Revenue Service requirements limit the number of awards to 25% of the number of eligible applications received.
