Advance Auto Parts Foundation supports the development of a workforce with the skills needed to be successful in the 21st Century. It prioritizes programs preparing people for employment in the auto aftermarket sector and programs serving military personnel transitioning into civilian life or seeking to upskill to move forward in their chosen career. It also supports the needs of the communities where Advance Auto Parts team members live and work.
From supporting post-secondary educational opportunities to training and upskilling our existing workforce, investing in workforce readiness helps individuals become financially independent, able to support their families and achieve personal growth and satisfaction. We have partnered with the schools and nonprofits below to learn how to most effectively support programs preparing participants to enter the workforce, with an emphasis on working in the auto aftermarket.
Whether it is helping to ensure that those who serve our country are supported as they transition to meaningful careers in the civilian workforce or that they have access to housing or mental health resources, foundation gifts to veteran-focused nonprofits address some of that community’s most urgent needs.
The foundation contributes to the networks of nonprofits in which Advance Auto Parts team members live and work in multiple ways. It has made gifts to nonprofits providing health care to underserved populations, gifts in the North Carolina Triangle and Roanoke, VA regions where many corporate headquarters team members are based and to nonprofits for which Advance team members have served as volunteers.
Scholarships for Team Member Dependents
For more than 20 years, the foundation has funded a program providing scholarships to the dependents of Advance Auto Parts team members who are continuing on to post-secondary education. The O. Temple Sloan, Jr. Founder’s Scholarship Program awards one-time and renewable scholarships to students attending college or occupational training programs. More than $1.2 million has been awarded since 2003.
When the Foundation makes larger gifts, organizations under consideration must align with one of our gifting areas and meet one of the following criteria:
Organizations will also be reviewed for reputation, activities and compliance with any terms and conditions established by the Foundation’s board of directors.
